The leaders of the Union of Manufacturers and  Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia (UMB(E)A), Yerevan Press Club (YPC),  "Eurasia" Partnership Foundation and International Center for Human Development  (ICHD) signed Memorandum of Cooperation on Normalizing Armenian-Turkish  relations on April 26, 2010.

Countries of the South Caucasus have announced about their commitment to follow the track of European integration. On this track they face various obstacles or benefit from emerging opportunities.

Emphasizing the importance of the Euroforum East/West Network as an effective platform for exchange and cooperation, ICHD has launched a new initiative. We are working to create a platform for young people from different countries of the wider region of Euroforum East/West Network that will enable evolving an effective dialogue on EU integration and new tools of partnership.

Fifty young women and men from Yeghegnadzor branch of Armenian Economical State University participated in Town Hall meeting on Armenia-NATO cooperation on 20th April 2010.

The seminar "Men Talking to Men" on the role and responsibility of thirty men in combating gender based violence organized by UNFPA on 14-18 April 2010, in Tbilisi, brought together men of various age and profession. All of them had one thing in common. They are all committed to combat violence through speaking out the problem and encouraging other men to mobilize in action against violence.

ICHD hosted UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative Ms. Dafina Gercheva on April 8, 2010. The head of credible organization and ICHD representatives discussed lessons learned from past cooperation and opportunities for new initiatives.

The protection of human rights minorities is a serious challenge to the establishment of democracy both in transition societies and in the European Union. The representatives of the minorities usually lack awareness of their rights and, thus, are hardly able to protect their interests and rights. Meanwhile, unrecognized entities appear in the margin of regional integration processes and do not benefit from international development opportunities.

ICHD will be represented in an Interagency Commission by its expert in this area.The Commission aims at raising effectiveness of actions implemented to prevent GBV, information collection as well as for drafting the National Programme on Combating Gender Based Violence.

Over 340 representatives of public service institutions, including police officers, health professionals, municipal servants and local authorities, from all regions of Armenia and Yerevan participated in fifteen two-day trainings on Gender and GBV issues organized and conducted by ICHD.

Gender-based violence is a major human rights threat throughout the world. The perception and stereotypes of Armenians on gender based violence are quite troubling.
